Description |
This module requires candidates to type properly in the modern business world. It introduces the candidate to the fundamentals of learning the home keys, techniques, rhythm, speed, and accuracy in the operation of the computer keyboard; typing of business letters, manuscripts and tabulated reports. |

Course Aims |
The aim is to allow the student to be able to: · Copy-type from printed text. · Type and display, ready for signature, a business letter from clearly written manuscripts. · Type a piece of tabulation from print or manuscript · Display a notice, a menu, an advertisement or similar material as attractively as possible. · Type a memorandum. · Proofread and identify errors on documents. · Type in accordance with the accepted methods of presentation · Collect and select material from draft documents. |

Learning Outcomes/Specific Outcomes |
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to: · Create documents, formatting, setting tabs, creating tables, working with columns, mail merge. Print envelopes and labels; work with columns, pictures, diagrams, and charts. · Create basic tables. · Use templates and wizards and integrate word with other office applications. · Customize tables, work with multipage documents and create custom styles and control pagination. · Sort text and tables, create and modify document references. |

Course Content |
The course will be able to demonstrate and articulate the following: 1. Mastering the key board, 2. Proof Reading: Produce business letters, memorandums, displays and manuscripts. 3. Produce tabulation 4. Type forms and other modes of presentation. 5.Type short reports using appropriate sub-headings such as shoulder headings.

The course will be assessed using a combination of Continuous Assessment and an end-of-semester examination. Continuous Assessment is made up of the following: · Tests · Assignments/Projects · Exercises · Quizzes · Worksheets · Practicals |

Moderation of assessments will be done in accordance with the ITCL’s general rules and guidelines on moderation. In addition, regular programme review, external verification, student and management evaluations will be used. |
